Jacob Eason – Washington

The next guy I like that should be around after the first round of the NFL draft is Jacob Eason. Eason has impressed this year with 16 touchdowns and three interceptions thus far on the year. Eason also has somewhat of a Georgia connection. Eason transferred from Georgia to Washington and had to sit out last year because of the NCAA transfer rules.

Eason played 13 games as a freshman at Georgia. He had just an okay season with 16 touchdowns, eight interceptions and only 2,400 yards. He has already reached that touchdown total at Washington though. He also has nearly 2,000 yards in only eight games with Washington. I am not sure what changed since his first year in 2016, but Eason is making a statement.

Eason likes to throw the ball hard. He pushes the ball fast and will zip it to receivers no matter where they are on the field. He sometimes lacks the touch needed for deep, downfield throws, but he has the arm strength and confidence to throw it just about anywhere.

I think Fromm would fit Matt Nagy’s system better than Eason, but I still like Eason’s upside. His struggles are similar to that of Mitchell Trubisky though. He shuffles his feet too much at times, relying too much on his arm and upper body. Eason has a more powerful arm than Trubisky too, but sometimes that gets him in trouble. As a second-round prospect though, I would jump for joy if he fell into the Chicago Bears lap.
