1. Run the Ball

I get that the Bears have struggled to run the ball this year, but how do you explain just seven rushing attempts in a game? Especially when you are in the game for the whole first half. As bad as the game ended up being on Sunday the Bears only trailed 12-10.

But here they were continually calling pass plays for a quarterback who was struggling. Trubisky was obviously in a funk, so what do they keep doing? Pass of course.

You have two dynamic backs in David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen and you even have a serviceable Mike Davis backing them up. Why aren’t they being used?

The last time we had this conversation after the Packers game, they committed back to the run and rushed 29 times against the Broncos and guess what they won. Yes, it was a close game that they needed a last-second field goal to win but they won.

Throwing incompletion after incompletion stops the clock and puts your defense back on the field quicker and wears them out. I don’t care how good of a defense you have if they are always on the field they are going to struggle.

The Bears have to get back to running the ball and put it into Montgomery’s hands at least 20 times. Mix in Cohen and use his speed and you might be able to sustain some drives. Run the ball and they can beat the Chargers. Go away from it and you are probably looking into another long afternoon.
