Maybe the Chicago Bears should’ve had two players-only meetings, because it seems like one wasn’t enough to help get things where they need it to be. After a highly disappointing loss in Week 7, the Bears (3-4) followed that up with another heartbreaking loss in Week 8.

Chicago came up short by the score of 17-16 to the Los Angeles Chargers, giving the team their first three-game losing streak under head coach Matt Nagy.

For the first time this season, the Bears’ offense surpassed 300 yards of total offense—they gained 388 total yards to be exact. Unfortunately, it was in the red zone where the offense struggled. With five trips to the red zone, Chicago managed to only get three field goals and a touchdown. The other red zone situation resulted in a missed field goal.

On the other side of the ball, the defense did everything that they could do to keep their team in the game. They held the Chargers’ offense to just 231 total yards, and did record a takeaway. However, the defense’s pass rush was not as potent as usual, registering only one sack.

After another loss, and with the three other NFC North teams winning their respective games, the Bears are officially in last place in the division. Having failed to get a win over the struggling Chargers, things aren’t going to get any easier for Chicago in the next few weeks. The way things are looking, repeating as division champs won’t happen, and their only chance of making the postseason will be claiming a wildcard spot. Good luck with that.
