The Chicago Bears are in need of some offensive help. The team started to look good against the woeful Chargers defense, but could a tight end help them get over their offensive struggles?

The Chicago Bears‘ struggles on offense are not a secret. Everyone around the league knows how poorly this team is playing on that side of the ball. The team saw a glimmer of hope in the last game, but could not punch it in when in the red zone. The team left too many points on the field and found themselves losing a game that they won statistically.

Fans know one of their areas of concern is around the tight end position. Trey Burton has been playing hurt and it shows. That said, is he even worth what the team is paying him? Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears have an out in 2020 that would cost them $7.5 million in dead cap. If they hold him until 2021, the team could cut him more easily with a dead cap hit of only $1.75 million in dead cap.

Ryan Pace seemed to have swung and missed with their 2017 second-round pick too. Adam Shaheen has been as close to a bust at this point as Kevin White. Alright, that might not be fair since White did very little to help this team, but Shaheen seems close. He dropped a touchdown pass last game that should have been a routine catch.

How can the Bears find a way to salvage this season? Many fans want a new quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky has not been great. He has looked awful and lost at times, but is another quarterback at the trade deadline going to be the answer? Probably not. Maybe a tight end though.
