The Chicago Bears face off against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. We layout the blueprint Matt Nagy needs to follow not only to beat the Eagles but to actually take revenge for their 2018 playoff loss.
The 2019 season has been anything but disappointing for the Chicago Bears. With high expectations set not only by the fans but by players and coaches, this team is barely keeping its head above water. Their current record of 3-4 could be worse, but it also could be better. With winnable games against the Raiders and Chargers, this team could actually be 5-2.
Let us not kid ourselves though. They could also easily be 2-5 with their squeak over the Broncos in Week 2. None of that matters right now though. Matt Nagy needs to reel in his players and hype them up. He needs to instill the confidence and play-calling needed for the Bears to have any hopes at the playoffs.
With six games left against fellow NFC teams who are currently vying for a playoff spot, we cannot count the Bears out just yet. A win over the Eagles on Sunday would be a great way to start convincing the fans that this team is not going anywhere.
Defending Mitchell Trubisky has become more of a hassle than it is worth. I am still holding out hope that Trubisky puts the tools together and breaks out during the back half of the season though. The Bears have an elite defense, but they also need a competent quarterback. Can Trubisky find a way to be that guy? Will Matt Nagy take the training wheels off?
None of that needs to happen in this particular game, but he needs to play a mistake-free game. Here are the three things that if they happen will make a victory over the Eagles even sweeter.
