Gayle Sayers and Dick Butkus

For the Week 12 game, the Bears are going to provide fans with a special treat and hand out a “dual” bobblehead featuring Gayle Sayers and Dick Butkus. Both of these former Chicago Bears came to the team in the first round of the 1965 NFL Draft. Butkus came first at number three and Sayers followed at number four.

The combination of these two players was magical. Butkus became perhaps the most feared defender in the NFL while Sayers “danced” his way into the endzone multiple times. They were both very effective on their respective sides of the ball.

Both Butkus and Sayers are Hall of Fame players and were voted to several Pro Bowls during their career in Chicago. Butkus spent his entire time with the Bears, as did Sayers. Injuries had something to do with the length of their careers but when they played, they were very dynamic and outstanding football players.
