A must-win game for the Bears turns into another ugly loss against the Eagles.

As the saying goes, when it rains, it pours. The Chicago Bears troubles continued on Sunday which resulted in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. There are clear signs that a team can do that will expose them to not being very good. One of those signs is when a team shows a complete lack of discipline.

Now, we can’t fully blame the defense on those offside penalties because it was clearly shown that Eagles Center Jason Kelce was illegally moving the football. Also, it’s hard to blame the touchdown from Zach Ertz on Kyle Fuller because Ertz committed an obvious penalty that the referees threw the flag for but changed their minds.

The lack of discipline comes from an offensive line that has been plagued with false start and holding penalties all season long. It comes from a roughing the passer penalty when the Eagles were about to turn the ball over. It comes from a defense that can’t make stops when given multiples attempts especially when the game is on the line.

It comes from a quarterback who can’t complete a 5-yard throw. It comes from multiple drops from their running backs. It comes from a fumble on a kickoff where Adam Shaheen should have just fallen on the football. That play alone should get him cut. Heck, that is one of the many reasons why Shaheen should no longer be part of this roster.

Most importantly, the lack of discipline comes from Matt Nagy. His stubbornness is causing this team to dismantle. Matt Nagy’s play-calling each week seems to get worse. Not all of this can be blamed on Nagy. His offense is failing to execute, but then again is Nagy putting his offense/quarterback in a situation where they can win?

Mitchell Trubisky is not a pocket passer. I do not understand how Matt Nagy continues to call those types of play when Mitch has seen some success rolling out. It’s completely baffling and inexcusable, to be honest.

This was supposed to be the game that the Chicago Bears turned their season around. It was supposed to be the so-called revenge game. However, in the end, it will be known as the game that all four wheels finally came off. This was a game the Bears needed to win especially against an NFC opponent that you may be bidding against for a Wildcard position.

Also, the entire division lost which would have been a great way to begin to sneak your way back in the race. As a Chicago Bears fan, we don’t want to give up hope. However when an offense manages only nine yards in the first half then there is no reason why we should not turn our attention to other Chicago sports teams like the Bulls and Blackhawks to get us through these hard times. Oh wait, never mind. On a positive note, the baseball season begins in 3 months.
