5 Quarterbacks Chicago Bears could add to replace Mitchell Trubisky
Quarterback is the most important position in football, and sadly the Chicago Bears desperately need a new QB, Because they aren’t going anywhere with Mitchell Trubisky.
Look, I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Mitchell Trubisky is a good NFL quarterback because he is not. It is hard for me to even say that because I am one Chicago Bears of the few who have been supporting him since the day he was drafted.
Entering the league in 2017, Trubisky had seven passing touchdowns and seven interceptions in 12 starts. After the 2017 season, The Chicago Bears fired head coach John Fox after three seasons with the team and then went and hired Matt Nagy, who was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City.
The hope was the hiring of Nagy would help get Trubisky’s career started after struggling in his rookie season. In his first-year with Nagy as head coach, Trubisky lead the team to a division title while also having a career year (3,223 passing yards, 24 TD’s, 12 ints)
After the year Trubisky had with Matt Nagy, Bears fans thought this was going to be the future of Bears Football. A lot of people had the Bears winning the Division again, and being legit Super Bowl contenders heading into the 2019 NFL season.
The 2019 season has been a disappointment for Mitchell Trubisky and the Chicago Bears, not living up to their expectations at all. Currently, they are sitting at the bottom of the NFC North with a 3-5 record.
I’m not putting it all on the quarterback, but he’s the most important player on the field. Trubisky has regressed a lot from last season. Not producing the way he should and has been so inaccurate with missing so many wide-open throws.
I’m not saying Trubisky should be released, I just personally think he shouldn’t be the starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. He doesn’t fit well in Matt Nagy’s system.
It’s never too early to discuss free agency and the NFL draft, so I thought it would be perfect to discuss 5 quarterbacks the Chicago Bears should target during free agency and the draft.
Jalen Hurts
Jalen Hurts, the quarterback at the University of Oklahoma, currently has 2,469 passing yards,21 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions.
He has a very good arm, very good accuracy and can scramble outside the pocket and find open receivers and get them the ball.
The Chicago Bears don’t have a 1st round pick, and Hurts is one of the quarterbacks who would most likely fall into the 2nd round.
It’d be great if the Chicago Bears ended up drafting Jalen Hurts in 2020.
Cam Newton
Assuming he’ll be cut after the 2019 season, Cam Newton would fit great in Chicago.
A Former NFL MVP and also took the Panthers to a Superbowl during the 2015 NFL season
Teddy Bridgewater
Teddy Bridgewater will be a free agent after the 2019 season. He was able to sit behind future Hall of Famer, Drew Brees the last 2 seasons.
It may be an expensive price tag for the Bears, but it will be worth it in my opinion. Surprised they didn’t try to trade for him before the trade deadline.
Marcus Mariota
This might be Marcus Mariota‘s last year in Tennessee so they may try to trade him or release him.
If they could end up getting him for a cheap price, it could work out. Especially since Mariota’s head coach at Oregon, Mark Helfrich is the offensive coordinator in Chicago.
Jacob Eason
Jacob Eason, the quarterback at the University of Washington, currently has 2,297 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
While being the best pro-style quarterback in 2016, he was also a 5-star recruit.
He is also likely one of the few quarterbacks that could fall into the 2nd round of the draft.
I’m not saying Mitchell Trubisky is going to completely stink during his entire NFL career. I just think he isn’t the right fit for Matt Nagy’s system. It’s time for the Bears to move on from him and find another Quarterback.
