3 reasons Chicago Bears losing streak can end Sunday
These three reasons should have the Chicago Bears optimistic that they can compete with the Detroit Lions
I know, Chicago Bears fans probably do not want to hear it. Their team has dropped three straight and have shown little semblance of life in those spots as well. The offense has taken a major step back, whether it be Mitch Trubisky, Matt Nagy, the offensive line or the drops by skill players.
At this point it feels as though the Bears are not going to win again this year. However, there is a potential light at the end of the tunnel with Detroit. Do not get it mistaken, this Bears team is not going to rebound and make a run to the playoffs.
However, when breaking down the matchups, there is a real chance the Bears can compete in this game and potentially steal a win.
3. Detroit Lions defense
When the Lions defense is on the field against the Bears offense we may see the answer to the unstoppable force vs. Immovable object except the exact opposite.
For the Bears, we have an offense that cannot get out of its own way. On the Lions side, their defense has been just as bad as the Bears offense. They have been a turnstile letting offenses go up and down the field against them.
When looking at DVOA, they rank 24th. Looking into the opponents the Bears have played, and the Lions are arguably the worst defense they will face in the past three weeks. In fact, the Saints and Eagles are top ten defense. The Chargers defense has been porous, but they did get Melvin Ingram back, which has ignited their unit. In fact, when you adjust for opponent, the Lions defense is certainly worse than the Chargers.
Both the Lions and Chargers have below average rush defenses. The Bears were able to get something going on the ground thanks to that bad run defense, so this could be a chance to take a step forward on the ground. Frankly, if this offense cannot score against the Lions, they really may lose out.
