The Offensive Line

The Chicago Bears are not the best team in the NFL. A big reason for the big step back the team has had this season is the play of their offensive line. Whether it be the missed snaps between Cody Whitehair and Mitchell Trubisky, or the multitude of flags the O-Line has taken, something needs to change.

I think we can all agree that Chicago has never had the best offensive line in the NFL. While that has been ok in the past if the Chicago Bears want to compete for a championship they need to have an elite group of O-Linemen in front of their quarterback.

Forget about your frustration with Mitchell Trubisky for a second and put yourself in his shoes. If you were the quarterback on this team and have been sacked 22 times by opponents how well would you be playing?

I do not want to make any excuses for the play of Trubisky, but at the same time, things would be better if he had a more competent offensive line that can keep the opponents away from the quarterback, while simultaneously knowing the snap count on any given play. A lot to ask for from your offensive line, I know.

With the Trubisky excuses behind us let’s look at another position that needs to improve if Chicago wants to contend again.
