The Chicago Bears look to have some major holes to fill before the start of the 2020 season. Building through the draft is ideal. Here is an early look at who they could target in the second round and does not play quarterback.
The Chicago Bears 2019 season has not gone according to expectations. Home games have sounded worse than away games as fans boo the offense play after play. The team is currently 4-5 on the year. The crazy thing is that the season could have gone in two completely different directions. Instead, they found themselves somewhere in the middle.
With a close loss to the Packers in Week 1, a squeaker of a victory in Week 2 and many other games within one score of becoming either a loss or a victory, the Bears could find themselves 8-1 on the year just as easily as they could be 1-8 right now. Instead, they are sitting near .500 on the year and on the outskirts of being in the playoff hunt.
To their credit, the team has not imploded internally. Had this been the Marc Trestman led Chicago Bears, the team would have had multiple fights and given up completely. The defense would have given up 50-plus scores while the offense continued to putter along. Matt Nagy has kept the locker room running fairly smoothly despite the struggles that have taken place.
Unfortunately for this team and Ryan Pace, many faces are going to be undrafted free agents this offseason. With limited cap space, the team needs to rely on a strong 2020 NFL Draft class. Unfortunate again is that the Bears have limited draft capital to work with this offseason. With two second-round picks, these are a few players the Bears could target that does not play quarterback.
