The Chicago Bears loss to the Rams hurt, but the final few minutes of the game were strange. The press conferences afterward were even weirder.

The Chicago Bears offense has struggled to score points all season. Some of that blame goes to Mitchell Trubisky. The other half goes on Matt Nagy. Some small portion goes to the positional players. That said, the Bears offense looked competent Sunday night moving the football. That is if the receivers could hold onto the football. The drops Sunday were awful.

All of that aside though, the weirdest part came when all of a sudden, Mitchell Trubisky was riding the pine and Chase Daniel was now in the game. This move came with a little over three minutes left in the game. Reports quickly came out after that Mitchell Tubisky was out with a hip injury. None of this was mentioned at any other point in the broadcast and the switch came after the Rams scored their final touchdown to make the game 17-7.

Mitchell Trubisky was moving around in the pocket and throwing the ball with precision and accuracy most of the game. He missed some throws, but every quarterback does. Even the best ones have their misses at times, but fans seem to think Trubisky needs to be 100 percent perfect or he is just trash. Tonight, he looked poised and made throws, unfortunately, the receivers had the case of the drops.

I still want to go back and watch the second half to see if he was favoring his hip and using mostly his arm. During the press conference, Mitchell Trubisky said the injury took place at some point on the last drive before halftime. He said he was looked at during halftime and as the game wore on, he started to tighten up. He was playing through the pain and did not want to leave the game.

Matt Nagy had a slightly different timeline of events during his press conference. He told reporters the injury happened a few series before the switch from Trubisky to Chase Daniel occurred. Why the disconnect on the timeline? There was a moment on the sideline where Nagy had Trubisky’s ear and was covering up what was being said with his clipboard. Trubisky looked crushed.

Was this the point when Nagy explained how they were going to fake an injury? Reports after the game said teammates did not know Trubisky was hurt. However, some analysts thought they saw him walking with a slight limp into the locker room. I do not know the truth, but I just cannot believe they’d go that far to make the switch when many fans would support the move.  I do plan on investigating it more though as the situation just seems too strange.

Now the question will be, who starts the next game? Is this the start of Trubisky being done for the year? With the playoffs out of the picture, should Trubisky just sit and have his shoulder injury repaired sooner? Maybe this is his out for that to happen? So many questions are surrounding the situation and answers seem to be lacking. One thing is for sure, the team better get their stories straight before their next media session.
