The Chicago Bears playoff chances are now nearly zero and anyone holding out hope is kidding themselves. The offense has been bad and one player needs to be cut, but who would replace him?

The Chicago Bears lost to the Rams 17-7 but dominated most statistics. The Bears had more passing yards, nearly the same rushing yards and held the ball longer throughout the game. The Bears offense moved the ball better than the Rams too outside of one play that should have been a touchback but led to a touchdown and one drive that led to another score. They even won the turnover battle. Unfortunately, they did not win the scoreboard.

Part of the Bears problem though was missed opportunities. One area of concern is the minimum of six points left on the field. The Bears essentially were in a position to score nine points, but Matt Nagy elected to go for it on 4th and nine as opposed to attempting a field goal.

Yes, the player in question here is Eddy Pineiro. The team keeps saying they do not want to point fingers at anyone, but here we are again with the Bears kicking position. After spending months of man-hours addressing the kicking position, Pineiro won the starting job. Now? Well, that job should be in jeopardy.

The Bears addressed the poor play of Adam Shaheen by benching him for Ben Braunecker. This brings me to what they should do with Eddy Pineiro. The team needs to send another message here. Pineiro needs to be cut. The team did not do it last year with Cody Parkey. This year, they have almost no playoff hopes, but when a player is not executing then the guy has to go.

Many want to see Mitchell Trubisky cut or benched. Technically, he was benched in this game too. They say it was a hip injury, but I will have to go back to the film to see if he does look to be only using his arm throughout the second half. Pineiro is not a quarterback. Unless you have your next developmental guy in place, switching quarterback is difficult. Daniel does not help this team.

With the kicking situation, the Bears should cut Pineiro. Pineiro is four for his last eight at field goal attempts. This is unacceptable. He is 12 of 17 on the year. That is only 70 percent. That is worse than Cody Parkey last season who made 76 percent of his kicks. If Parkey had to be cut, shouldn’t Pineiro? The problem is, who do they bring in?
