The Chicago Bears need to draft at least one quarterback next year, so is Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa a realistic option?

Look, if the Chicago Bears want to get back to their winning ways a lot needs to happen. First off they need to find another quarterback.

I’m not going to sit here and tell you that Mitchell Trubisky is a true franchise quarterback because he isn’t. It was a big mistake for Ryan Pace to give up a lot of future draft picks just so we can take Trubisky second overall when we could’ve literally had him at three.

I’ve been a believer of Trubisky since the day he was drafted and thought he’d be the next “franchise” quarterback of the Chicago Bears. His first year in the NFL was awful, mostly because of John Fox being the head coach. Then they went out and signed Matt Nagy to hopefully fix Trubisky. He seemed to do that in his first year, but Nagy’s second year of being the head coach has not gone according to plan and Trubisky has regressed horribly.

So it’s time to start the process again of finding another quarterback, whether it be during free agency or the draft. We’ll see.

Could Alabama Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa be a “realistic” option for the Bears? He could be.

Since Tagovailoa recently suffered a dislocated hip, he’ll be out the rest of the season at Alabama. He could potentially drop in the NFL draft since he’ll be rehabbing and teams won’t know how he’ll return. This means he could be picked between the end of the first and end of the second. He is no longer a top-three pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

No, this does not mean he’ll instantly replace Trubisky, but you sit Tagovailoa behind him for a year so he can fully heal and get back to form and then once Trubisky hits free agency you let him go and Tua would be the new starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears.

Before his injury, Tagovailoa had 33 passing touchdowns, three interceptions, and 2,840 passing yards. He was arguably the best, or at least the second-best, quarterback prospect heading into the 2020 NFL Draft.

Bears fans can dream, right? We can dream about having Tua Tagovailoa as the next franchise quarterback. But who knows, maybe it’ll actually happen, and maybe Ryan Pace will draft an elite quarterback. We will have to wait and see.
