Maybe the Chicago Bears have finally found their future tight end in Jesper Horsted?

The Chicago Bears tight end position has been nonexistent all season, while only having a combined 29 catches, and 231 receiving yards, and one touchdown after having 64 catches, and 668 receiving yards, and 7 touchdowns last year. To sum it all up the Bears tight end position has sucked this year.

Since Greg Olsen left the team, the tight end position has been pretty terrible for the Bears.

Ryan Pace tried to fill that position when he went out and sign Trey Burton after he won the SuperBowl with the Eagles. Burton signed a 4 year $32 million contract in 2018. His first year with the team he had 54 receptions, 569 receiving yards, and 6 touchdowns.

Adam Shaheen, Ben Branecker, and J.P Holtz are all the tight ends that are currently on the Bears roster, and Burton is now on injured reserve. In fact, is Trey Burton one of the worst free-agent signings ever made by Ryan Pace? I think so.

The Bears are desperate for tight end production, so they recently called up tight end Jesper Horsted from their practice squad.

Horsted has only been playing tight end for 6 months so he’s quite new to the position, but hopefully, he’ll be better than what we currently have. He was signed by the Bears on May 13th after being undrafted. He surprisingly performed well during the Bears last two preseason games, caught three passes for 39 yards and scoring one touchdown against the colts and then caught five passes for 82 yards and a touchdown against the Titans.

Horstead was a wide receiver at the University of Princeton. During his 4 year career at Princeton, he had 196 catches and 2,703 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns in only 35 games. He only switched to the tight end position in May of this year.

He still has a lot to learn about the tight end position, but if he learns it well, he could be apart of the future for this team.

Next. Is Tua Tagovailoa a "realistic" option for the Bears?. dark

Horstead is the most appealing target that the Bears have at the tight end position and if he finishes off the season strong, he could be on this team heading into 2020.
