The Chicago Bears offensive line has had a lot of injuries and has been one of the biggest disappointments thus far this season.

The Chicago Bears offensive line has been just rattled with injuries all season long and has been such a disappointment all year. Also, it has been a reason why Mitchell Trubisky has regressed a lot this year.

It all started with Kyle Long who has been out since the Bears bye week after suffering a hip injury in practice leading up to the game against the Minnesota Vikings. He is 30 years old and has been dealing with nonstop injuries for the past four years. He is under contract until after next year so maybe it is time to cut him after this year and move on? I think so.

Now yesterday, the Chicago Bears announced that right tackle Bobby Massie suffered a high ankle sprain Sunday against the New York Giants and is expected to miss a couple of weeks. With Massie being an offensive lineman and him depending on his legs, it could even be longer than just a couple of weeks for him to fully heal.

So what is next for this offensive line? A lot needs to happen for this offensive line to get back on track. In yesterday’s game against the Giants, Rashaad Coward looked very overmatched. He just could not block for either David Montgomery or Tarik Cohen to get the running game going at all. I mean he is learning a new position in the NFL but since making the switch, the results just have not been there for him.

Maybe it is time to give Alex Bars a look at right tackle in place for Massie? I mean, it could not hurt, right? Bars who originally played guard in college also got the opportunity to play tackle as well. He has played both left guard and right guard, and also played left tackle and right tackle. If the Bears decide to use him, they can pretty much put him in any spot on the offensive line and he’ll be comfortable.

Even though Cornelius Lucas is the primary backup right tackle to Massie, I would much rather see what Bars can do to help Trubisky get back to form.

Next. Should the Bears cut this player now?. dark

The Bears should call him up to the active roster and start the man. I want to see news about Alex Bars starting this week against the Detriot Lions. The offensive line is one of the top needs for this team during the offseason. If Bars gets a shot and performs well for the rest of the year, could he be the future of this offensive line? I believe the answer is yes. Plus they can save money and spend it elsewhere instead of putting a ton of money into the offensive line.
