If Mitchell Trubisky were to write a Dear Santa letter, it might look something like this…

Dear Santa,

It is me, Mitchell Trubiksy, starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears. I am excited that Christmas is around the corner, but Santa, this year has been very rough. I have been a good boy all year and I hope that is enough for you to take my requests seriously.

As you know, our season is basically over now. We have no chance at making the playoffs, but that does not mean we should give up. We need to work together and make plays and try to win. We need to win for not only the fans but also for ourselves. It would be selfish of me to just ask you to give us a winning season in 2020, therefore I will ask you for things I believe will help get us to the promised land.

Before I get into my Christmas wish list, if you get this letter early enough, I was hoping you could sneak me an early present. We are playing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. It would have been nice if the NFL rescheduled the game out of the primetime spot. Now I will have to face off against Patrick Mahomes on national television when more people will be watching.

Is there any way you can give me some sort of lucky potion to make sure I outperform Mahomes. I am not a negative person, but the media has been very tough on me this year when being compared to Deshaun Watson and Mahomes. If I could outperform Mahomes on Sunday night in a primetime game, maybe others will stop bullying and being mean to me in the media.

Alright, if you cannot make that happen, I understand. As someone who has endured the media barrage this year and taken the high road, I hope you recognize how good I have been and bring me a little extra. I am tired of hearing how the Bears made a mistake drafting Mitchell Trubisky over Watson or Mahomes.

I know that sounds greedy, but my mom said I have been the best kid all year.

My 2019 Christmas Wish List

  1. A running game (blocking would help)
  2. More I Formation (do not tell Coach Nagy I said this)
  3. More designed roll-outs (I mean it, please do not tell Coach)
  4. A new tight end (someone like Travis Kelce would be nice)
  5. Stickum for my wide receivers (did you know they lead the league in drops?)
  6. New media members would be nice. (The questions Bears media has been asking have been tough).
  7. The trust and respect of Coach Nagy

If you can deliver these to Halas Hall, please feel free to take the televisions since we have them all permanently turned off anyway. I will make sure to leave you some milk and cookies. Maybe you prefer egg nog? I will make sure we leave you some of each.

Good luck on Christmas Eve delivering all the gifts. Make sure to tell Rudolph he is my favorite.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Sincerely,
Mitchell Trubisky — No. 10
