Chicago Bears: 3 Bold predictions versus the Chiefs
Mitchell Trubisky outperforms Patrick Mahomes
Yes. You are not seeing things. You do not have a brain tumor pressing on whatever lobe causes you to have hallucinations or read things incorrectly. My first bold prediction is that Mitchell Trubisky finds a way to outperform Patrick Mahomes on Sunday Night Football.
Hear me out a minute. I understand that Trubisky has yet to show that he is remotely close to where the other two first-round picks are from the 2017 NFL Draft. Trubisky is tired of hearing the noise and you could tell he is only interested in playing his own game while the fans and the media make the competition into headlines.
Well, here I am making this into a headline. Although I believe it to be going in the opposite direction than just about everyone else believes. The Chicago Bears defense is seventh in defensive DVOA thus far this year. They rank seventh against the pass and 10th against the run. Even with a few guys who are unable to play due to injury, this defense should be able to hold its own versus Mahomes.

Kansas City is not a slouch on defense. In fact, the Chiefs’ defense is slightly better than the Bears versus the pass. The Chicago Bears are way ahead of the Chiefs versus the run though. Personally, that does not matter though as Matt Nagy loves to pass no matter what.
Last week the Chicago Bears kept Aaron Rodgers at bay. Rodgers threw for less than a 50 percent completion percentage. It was the lowest completion percentage of Rodgers’ season. He threw for only 203 yards and one touchdown. His quarterback rating was 78.2, which was the second-lowest of his season.
The week before, the Bears limited Dak Prescott to a 55 percent completion percentage. He threw for a bunch of yards in garbage time and one touchdown pass. As you can see based on the performance of these two quarterbacks, Mahomes is likely to struggle on Sunday.
With the pressure off of Trubisky and the Chicago Bears to make the playoffs, I believe Trubisky will play more loose and free. He will outplay Mahomes and help shut up all of his naysayers.
