When the Chicago Bears are on the clock in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft and Anthony Gordon is sitting there, should the Bears draft him with one of their picks in the second round?

Since the Chicago Bears, 2019 season is officially over with being eliminated from the playoffs, it’s that time of the year where we get to start talking about the NFL Draft and Free Agency. After the season that Mitchell Trubisky had, Bears fans begin to question whether or not it’s time to move on from him. Trubisky had taken a huge step back in his development this season, after having a career year in 2018.

If they do decide to bring in competition at the quarterback position, I’d rather see them address it during the draft instead of going out and signing a guy like Andy Dalton or Marcus Mariota. No, I’m not saying that Trubisky’s time in Chicago is over, just think they need to bring in some competition. I still believe Trubisky will be the Bears starting quarterback in 2020.

Since the Bears don’t have a first-round pick so they have no shot at a guy like Joe Burrow or even Tua Tagovailoa. So If you’re Ryan Pace and Anthony Gordon is sitting there in the second round, Do you draft him with one of your two picks? As of right now, the Bears have the 49th overall pick and the 50th.

Gordon backed up Gardner Minshew last season and then took over the starting quarterback job this season at Washington State in his senior season. This season Gordon put up unbelievable numbers, he had 5,228 passing yards, 45 passing touchdowns, 16 interceptions, 71.9 completion percentage, and a 157.7 passer rating. He also ended up breaking the Pac-12 record for passing touchdowns in a season with was 44.

Like I said Trubisky will be the starter in 2020, but if Anthony Gordon is on the board when the Bears pick in the second round, is he worth taking?

Strengths

Arm Talent is definitely one of Gordan’s strengths. He gets the ball out of his hands fast. Accurate ball placement, he puts the ball where exactly he wants it most of the time. His deep ball is very impressive.

Weakness

Experience is a question mark after starting only one season at Washington State. Due to his nature and also his arm strength, he can be a little too aggressive throwing into tight windows which will lead to interceptions.

Fit with Bears

The Chicago Bears need someone who can come in and compete with Trubisky. Gordon is someone who can step in and take over if Trubisky doesn’t get it done in 2020. He is also someone who I think fits very well in Matt Nagy’s System.

With how Gordon performed at Washington State this year and teams may notice that and he’ll end up climbing up the drafts boards, so if the Bears feel like he’ll be gone before the pick in the second round, they should do whatever it takes. Is Anthony Gordon worth a second-round pick?
