Anthony Gordon

Everyone seems to be talking about Anthony Gordon. I am not sure if this is because everyone follows Patrick Sheldon of Da Windy City or if Gordon has just seen that much momentum over the last couple of months. Sheldon has to be Gordon’s biggest fan. With all of the free social media coverage Sheldon has pushed for Gordon, one might think he is Gordon’s agent’s burner account.

Gordon is the successor of Gardner Minshew at Washington State. Washington State runs what many call an “air raid” system and quarterbacks from these systems seem to get a bad reputation as poor NFL quarterbacks. Minshew has helped dispell that a little bit and one could argue that Patrick Mahomes is another who has changed that perception.

There is a big difference between Minshew and Mahomes though. Minshew was never the first-round prospect like Mahomes was coming out of college. Minshew was a sixth-rounder who was never supposed to start a game in 2019. Injuries to Nick Foles gave Minshew his opportunity and he never looked back. Could Anthony Gordon be that guy in Chicago?

Mitchell Trubisky has been hurt two years in a row and missed ta few games each season. That could be all Gordon needs if he is drafted here in Chicago. Right now, Gordon is projecting as a fourth, fifth or sixth-round option. He threw for 5,579 yards, 48 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He also completed over 71 percent of his passes. Gordon would be a great fit here in Chicago if Ryan Pace brings in a guy through the draft to compete with Trubisky.
