Strong Safety

HaHa Clinton-Dix signed a one year deal, and the perception around his first year in Chicago is that it will be his last. It is not much of a knock on Clinton-Dix, who was fine last season. However, he was not a fit next to Eddie Jackson.

The signing put Jackson in the box much more often than he has played in his career. They could try to offer Clinton-Dix a cheap deal, but their best bet is to look for a box safety who can match his skill set better with Jackson.

The question is how do they address this? They have spent minimal resources on this position for years, getting by with Adrian Amos on a rookie deal and Clinton-Dix on a cheap deal.

They are already spending big on Jackson and do not want to overload on their secondary. They may want to look to the draft here. A veteran could come in, but they have Deon Bush who can be a bridge type-player.

However, drafting a safety means four years of cheap safety, which would match up with the extension of Jackson and his big cap hit.
