We are inching closer and closer to the start of the 2020 league year. The offseason is going to be important for the Chicago Bears as they address needs in free agency and the NFL Draft. Here is a way too early look at a mock draft.

As we know, the Chicago Bears need to make some changes this offseason in order to move the needle in 2020 and contend for the playoffs once again. The thing is, the fans do not want just the playoffs, they want to see this team take the next step to become a Super Bowl contender.

I am going to project that Ryan Pace shakes things up with some cap casualties and finds a way to free up some decent money for free agency. I also believe the Bears will make a splash in free agency and I am predicting they sign Washington offensive guard Brandon Scherff. Yep, Scherff will be the one big signing and he will take over Kyle Long‘s guard spot.

Scherff will bring a strong running attack back to the Chicago Bears and he is a solid pass blocker too. A team that was 29th in rushing DVOA needs to make changes and this is the first step for Pace. Adding Scherff will also free up some flexibility for the Bears in the 2020 NFL Draft. The team is without a first-round pick, but they do have two second-rounders.

In order to do my mock draft, I have used the mock draft tool on the Draft Network. I also decided I would run two separate mocks at the same time just to get a sense of how easily things can change based on players flying off or falling on draft boards. I took two different approaches here, but both were with the consideration that Scherff would eliminate the need for an offensive guard.
