The Chicago Bears need a tight end. Are there any good options at the Senior Bowl?

While many fans will debate whether the Chicago Bears have the right quarterback, all fans agree that the team does not have the right tight ends. After Adam Shaheen struggled and ended on IR next to Trey Burton, the team saw how little depth and talent they had at the position.

So, whether it be the draft, free agency, or arguably both, the Bears are going to add a tight end, and likely two at some point during this offseason.

As the Senior Bowl approaches, plenty of tight end prospects will head to Mobile to show to coaches how they can work with NFL type practices.

These events are important for scouts, but the game is not nearly as important as what these players do in the practice setting. How they adjust to new game plans and progress as the week goes on is important to see growth and maturity that is needed in the NFL.

With that in mind, who are five tight ends that Bears need to be watching, and what should they be looking for at the Senior Bowl?

5. Adam Trautman

Best NFL Role: F tight end

This week will be more important for Trautman than most of the other prospects in the event. Trautman has looked dominant in college, but coming from Dayton he has not been tested much. This week will be very important as it gives scouts a chance to see Trautman against athletes of his caliber.

Before Chicago Bears fans get into a frenzy about drafting a small school player, this is no Adam Shaheen. Trautman is a pure football player with plenty of college football experience. Is an experienced blocker first, although blocking ability will be tested this week against better competition.

Still, he has seam splitting size and speed and has jump ball prowess from Dayton. He would be a perfect upgrade over Shaheen and complement to Burton. This week will go a long way in seeing if he is ready for the NFL, and Bear fans need to be watching.
