5 Senior Bowl IOL for Chicago Bears fans to watch
John Simpson, Clemson
Projected Round: 5
Simpson has been there and done that. Playing in two National Championships and winning one, experience against big-name players is not something lacking from his resume.
Simpson saw rotational snaps in 2017 but has been a two-year starter for Clemson over the past two years. Now, he has a chance to show fans that while many rave over their skill players, that it helps to have an offensive line as well.
Simpson has great size and is a smart and technically sound power run blocker. He may not explode off of the ball like others in this class, but not many can hold up with power quite like him.
The questions with him come with his foot speed. He can beat by quicker pass rushers who burst off of the ball quickly. He also has serious issues picking up stunts and can lose balance when players come at him with a full head of speed.
Simpson does not have much upside, but we will want to see how he competes against some of the quicker linemen in this group. Will his speed make him a great college player with limited upside, or is there something more to un-tap?
