Who are five tight ends the Chicago Bears need to be eyeing during the NFL combine?

As the Chicago Bears enter the offseason, they have a notable need at tight end. Sure, they just signed Demetrius Harris, but that does not close off their options to add at the position this offseason.

The team is going to add tight end. With that in mind, the scouting combine this week will be key in identifying who is on the shortlist of tight end options that they can add. They can finally compare all of the size, athleticism and personality questions that need to be answered before the NFL draft.

5. Colby Parkinson, Stanford, 6’7″, 252 pounds

Parkinson is not much of a blocker and will be used stretched out as a big, or giant slot given his size. Parkinson has a strong catch radius and can turn and twist his body to get in the air and make a play. The expectation is that he jumps well at the combine.

The question with Parkinson will be his overall strength. Contested catches are a bit of an issue for him, and he hardly can be looked at as a blocker. Considering he came from Stanford, you can assume that if he could block, they would use him in that manner.

So, questions that will be asked of him will be about his overall strength, and whether or not he can transition to be more of a blocker. He would likely slot in as a “Y” tight end, so pass-catching is key, but there needs to be a threat to block as well. Keep an eye on if Parkinson can boost his stock.
