2. Jon Runyan, OL, Michigan, 6’4″, 306 lbs

Jon Runyan, the son of the former Pro Bowl NFL lineman made a lot of money this weekend. Runyan played tackle at Michigan and was a well-refined lineman with an unreal amount of college snaps under his belt.

The question for him heading into the combine was whether it could transfer. He was technically refined, but did not have the size for tackle, and many questioned his athleticism.

As you can see below, his arm length is a bit below average. This will hurt his chance of playing tackle in the NFL.

However, as you can also see, his athleticism flashed which is everything needed for an NFL guard.

Runyan has the quick feet needed to make the move to guard. His length is not nearly an issue, and his technical skills, and speed will make the transition much smoother than scouts had feared.

This is why the Chicago Bears need to keep an eye on Runyan. This is a hard worker with experience and football blood. Now we know he is above average in athleticism as well.

He is going to fall because he is a bit too small to be an NFL tackle. However, he very well could be the ideal guard that the team steals on Day 3. Do not bet against a player with as many boxes checked at Jon Runyan. We learned that this weekend.
