Competition in Training Camp

Since being dubbed as the team’s No. 1 quarterback in 2018, Trubisky hasn’t had to worry about the likes of Chase Daniel or Tyler Bray breathing down his neck to take his spot. Now with Bray gone and Daniel likely signing elsewhere this offseason, the Bears are now in position to bring in a veteran arm to compete against Trubisky during this summer’s training camp.

Having Lazor added to the coaching staff, the most obvious quarterback to target is Andy Dalton of the Cincinnati Bengals. Although Dalton isn’t a free agent, the Bears could trade for the 10-year veteran and have him reunited with Lazor. As far as free-agent quarterbacks, there’s Tom Brady, Philip Rivers, Teddy Bridgewater, Marcus Mariota, Jameis Winston, and a host of others Chicago can court during the offseason.

No matter who the Bears decide to bring in the near future, a much-needed fire will be ignited under Trubisky, and will be a major factor in either making or breaking his future as face of the franchise.
