The reality is that Nick Foles, Andy Dalton, and Derek Carr are trade options not currently available. This leaves a smaller group of quarterback options to follow in free agency as we speak. Two possible options include Marcus Mariota and Case Keenum.

Mariota makes sense in a lot of ways. Similar to something he saw first hand, sometimes a change in scenery can bring out the best in someone. Mariota could see Chicago as a chance to win a starting job, where he may not have that option in many of his other choices.

Beyond that, he has a chance to push and potentially beat Trubisky for a starting spot. At the very least, he may be able to come in during the season, like Tannehill, and take a starting job.

Mariota can fit the cap due to his current demand. He wants to win a starting job and can find that in Chicago. The fit does make sense. If there is a free agent quarterback to follow in the coming days, it is Marcus Mariota.
