This one is probably tough for many fans to swallow. Tarik Cohen is definitely a fan favorite. In fact, I enjoy watching him too. That said, he plays the most expendable position in the NFL. Cordarelle Patterson can take on more carries and David Montgomery is a bell-cow back.

Cohen has had some issues holding onto the football. He fixed that in 2019, but then started dropping the ball on a consistent basis. The Bears can look to the 2020 NFL Draft with one of their six picks to replace Cohen. Two names that stick out are projected to go anywhere from the third round to the sixth round. Anthony McFarland, Jr. out of Maryland would be a nice replacement. The other is Darrynton Evans out of Appalachian State. Both are quick with receiving capabilities.

If Ryan Pace were to make this move it would send a clear message he wants to win now. Slay is 29 years-old and due $10 million dollars. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2021. If the Bears were to make this trade, they would have to work out a new deal for Slay. One that would reduce the cap hit for 2020, but makes sense for Slay financially. Imagine Slay and Fuller on the field together. They would make one of the most dangerous cornerback duos in the league.

This trade could work as the Lions need more offensive weapons. The team has Kerryon Johnson as their starter, but Cohen would make a great compliment. Most teams do not like trading with the same conference let alone the same division. This should not matter in this case and the Bears could really benefit from a move like this one.
