Will the Bears give Allen Robinson an extension?

Allen Robinson

Robinson had alluded to a contract extension last week, but nothing ever materialized from his cryptic tweets. The former second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars was part of a flurry of moves to improve the wide receiver corps before the 2018 season. At a $14 million AAV, Robinson has been one of the best receivers on the roster, accumulating 1,900 yards in his first two years. He’s still 26 years old and is arguably the best receiver to come through Halas Hall since Brandon Marshall.

Tarik Cohen

Tarik Cohen‘s first two years in the NFL proved that he was the real deal. The 5-foot-6, 191 pound North Carolina A&T product was productive both on the ground and through the air. However, last season cast much doubt in his long-term future in Chicago. He’s been labeled as expendable entering the final year of his rookie deal. Cohen will need a bounceback year to stay in Chicago beyond 2020.

Cordarrelle Patterson

The Chicago Bears’ addition of Cordarrelle Patterson last offseason was one of the most underrated across the NFL. The former 29th overall pick of the 2013 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings has a similar skillset as Cohen, but he’s much larger in stature. Still, 2020 is likely to be his last in Chicago.

Roy Robertson-Harris

As an undrafted free agent, Roy Robertson-Harris has made the most of his playing time. He’s recorded four sacks in each of the last two seasons and earned a sizeable pay increase heading into this year. He’s a good story and a solid guy to have on the roster, but he’s also replaceable. RRH will be an unrestricted free agent after the year, and there’s a real possibility he cashes in elsewhere.

Deon Bush

Depending on how he performs in what figures to be expanded playing time, Deon Bush has the chance to net a multi-year deal contract. To this point, the Chicago Bears have tendered him one-year deals beyond his rookie contract. He’s set to make just $1.4 million in 2020, but might the Bears consider him part of the future? This season will be very telling.
