Alright, so here is how things went down. When I saw the names left on my draft board, I quickly realized I would be okay landing only one of them. I also realized enough names were on the board that I could draft the 43rd overall pick and likely net a larger return.

My first attempts were to trade back within the second round and only acquire a third-round pick back in exchange. After a couple of declined trade proposals, I settle on the idea of offering the Denver Broncos the pick in exchange for two third-rounders instead. I decided that was not enough though and asked for their fourth-round pick too. Boom, John Ellway accepted.

It should be known that the Broncos took Xavier McKinney with the 43rd pick in the NFL mock draft. McKinney is projected to be a solid safety in the NFL. He was a target of mine for the Bears if I decided to stay put instead of move back. The thing is, I was more excited about the fact that I will now have four picks within the top 150 draft prospects, opposed to only two.

I also took the risk of not taking McKinney and hoping a different safety would drop to pick No. 50. Well, the risk was worth it and I was extremely happy with the first pick I made for the Chicago Bears.
