If we look at the Chicago Bears projected depth chart, the only backup tackles are Alex Bars and Dino Boyd. We all know who Bars is but do you know Fred Flinstone’s pet dinosaur? Did not think so. The Bears need to bring in a few more tackles. I would hope one in free agency and one in the draft.

Another option I think Ryan Pace must consider if still available later in free agency is Kelvin Beachum. Beachum is a carbon copy of Charles Leno in regards to his size. He is also a seventh-round draft pick like Leno. Beachum is older than Leno though as he turns 31 in June.

Beachum finished the 2019 season with a Pro Football Focus grade of 67.1. Not great, but still better than Leno and Bobby Massie. Beachum had nine penalties last season and allowed four sacks. What makes Beachum a solid addition is his versatility. He has played both right and left tackle. His most recent stint was left tackle for the New York Jets.

He has been the Jets starting left tackle for the last three years and only missed three games. Nothing about Beachum should excite Chicago Bears fans. He is an average to maybe slightly above average offensive tackle. However, when you go bargain shopping, these are the types of players you find. If the Bears can lock him up on a cheap deal like they did Germain Ifedi, then the signing could be very underrated.
