The Chicago Bears need a starter at right guard. These ten players could start for the Chicago Bears by the end of 2020.

The offensive line is not the sexiest position, so it does not get the publicity of respect that it deserves. However, with the Chicago Bears having limited picks and a need for the offensive line, it feels like fans should get to know this position more than any.

Germain Ifedi is penciled in as the current starter at right guard. While all 10 of the players listed are projections to the NFL, they have best chance at being a starting right guard by the end of 2020. If the Bears want to upgrade from Ifedi, they had better find it from this list.

10. Michael Onwenu, Michigan

Onwenu falls a bit underrated as four out of the five Michigan offensive lineman starters could get drafted in 2020. Of the four, Onwenu was the starting right guard. Therefore, he clearly projects to a right guard in the NFL.

Onwenu enters the NFL at 344 pounds, the biggest of the group.

That size comes in handy, as he is a traditional Big 10 offensive lineman who loves to plow and use his power. At the size, he is not going to move well, but you would not expect that. The movement and athleticism is a massive edge that Ifedi would have Onwenu. However, if Ifedi has to hold players, while Onwenu provides more of a brick wall, you have to take the stiffer, but powerful mauler.

Here is NFL.com on his NFL projection.

"Powerful and wide, Onwenu’s natural play strength is somewhat offset by his below-average athletic ability. With better hand placement and attention to footwork, he can take a step forward as a drive blocker with the ability to move bodies around, but he’ll be a scheme-specific prospect who could struggle against quick, upfield players and sub-package rushers. He has backup guard ability and potential as a Day 3 pick."

As noted, Onwenu is a Day three pick. Pro Football Focus gave him a round four grade. The Bears are going to have to hope that he falls to round five, but in the round 5-7 range, the Bears could add a big man to the offensive line, and a potential NFL starter.
