Tennessee Titans
The Tennessee Titans are another team who could be interested in a player like Trey Burton. Jonnu Smith has replaced the aging Delanie Walker as the starting tight end on the team. Behind Smith is Anthony Frisker. Adding a veteran receiving presence like Burton could be ideal for the Titans.
The team could still bring back Walker, but he has not been as productive the last two years and has barely been able to stay on the field. He has only played eight games in two years. Although Burton has not done much better with health, if he is able to pass a physical he would be a decent option for the Titans.
We need to remember that Burton was actually very serviceable for most of the 2018 season. He caught 54 of his passes for 569 yards and six touchdowns. That equates to a 71.1 percent completion percentage. He only had three drops during the year too.
Although he would not see a large number of passes thrown his way in this offense, he would fill in nicely as a complimentary role behind Smith. This will not earn Burton a large sum of money, but with over $20 million in salary-cap space, a $2 to $3 million dollar per year contract is not out of question.
