Shane Lemieux – IOL
Ryan Pace has yet to address the offensive line. He honestly might not since he added guys like Germain Ifedi and Jason Spriggs in the offseason. Pace made it known that he felt the issue with the offensive line was more of a coaching issue opposed to a personnel issue. I thought it was GM speak, but maybe he truly believes it. Personally, they need more talent upfront.
Shane Lemieux could be that guy. Lemieux is 6’4″ and 316lbs and would bring some power to the Bears offensive line. He might not fit the scheme Matt Nagy wants to run this year (more zone blocking opposed to power), but he brings a much-needed skillset to a team that has continuously struggled with running the football.
If Ryan Pace had an opportunity to grab Lemieux, he would instantly push for starting time at guard over Germain Ifedi. The Chicago Bears would have to determine which lineman fits best with the other four, but at worst the team would have some much-needed depth.
When you get to this point in the draft you hope to find guys who will find a way to contribute. Lemieux would not be the first Oregon lineman to play for the Bears. Kyle Long seemed to work out well while healthy, maybe it is time to give another Duck a shot?
