Quarterbacks
Mitchell Trubisky, Nick Foles (2)
With the 2020 NFL Draft in the books, we should only expect two quarterbacks to remain on the 53-man roster come September. Had Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears drafted a quarterback, it would have been more likely that the team keeps three on the roster. We should expect Tyler Bray to find himself on the practice squad once again.
The question with the two quarterbacks who will remain on the 53-man roster is which quarterback will start and which quarterback will be the backup. A follow-up question will be, will the starting quarterback remain the starter all season or will poor play force the coaching staff’s hand to make a switch?
My early prediction is that we will see a similar situation to the Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill duo last season. Mariota started the season for the Titans, however within four games, Tannehill took over and helped lead the Titans to a strong playoff run.
The Chicago Bears will give Mitchell Trubisky the first crack at the starting job. If he plays well he will remain the starter. If he struggles, Nick Foles will take over. This is one of the key positional battles to watch all year long.
