The Chicago Bears will just have to show it on the field this season.

I don’t need to go into too much detail on Eddie Jackson, but his partner on the back end of the coverage will either be Teshaun Gipson or Deon Bush, who are capable of starting in the NFL. They may be the weakest players on the Chicago Bears starting defense.

If Gipson is the worst starter on defense, the team is doing something correctly. Roquan Smith will be entering year three and might have something going on in life, but we can not deny the talent that kid has. He had 121 total tackles his rookie year, and another 101 tackles in a season he only played 12 games.

The Chicago Bears went from being one of the younger teams in the NFL in 2018 to being one of the more experienced teams in the NFL. Retaining Danny Trevathan’s services is part of that keeping the Chicago Bears experienced. He has only finished two complete seasons, but the Chicago Bears kept six off-ball linebackers for a reason.

That strategy worked out as they now will have kept players they liked in the system for depth options. Back to the offense, the running back position was hardly affected this season. Matt Nagy believes he can fix the run game with the offensive coaches on staff.

David Montgomery was a bell-cow in college but is asked to have a much different role with the Chicago Bears. Tarik Cohen returns as the small swiss army knife while Cordarrelle Patterson returns as the large swiss army knife. They didn’t have fantastic rushing numbers this season; Cohen still caught 79 passes. Anytime either of these two players touches the ball, they have the explosion to take it the distance.
