A few others who have done it

John Carlson was the other tight end to achieve over 600 yards during his rookie campaign as the Seahawks 38th overall selection in the 2008 NFL draft. Carlson fell out of favor with the Seahawks after year three, but he was an older prospect entering the draft.

Evan Engram produced 722 yards while starting in 11 games his rookie year. He has since been unable to stay healthy but is a dangerous weapon when he is on the field. Engram was a tight end that was heavily scouted by the Chicago Bears in 2017.

Noah Fant was very close to achieving that rookie milestone. Most of these tight ends were given the starting spot after week four. If Kmet can stay on track with learning the playbook, it is only a matter of time before the 21-year-old tight end can work his magic on the field for a coach who stresses the use of his tight ends. Can he reach that 600-yard mark? How about five or more touchdowns? I cannot wait to see him in action this season.
