Roberto Garza – OG

The offensive line needs some serious help. It would be awesome if the team could bring back the likes of John Tait or James “Big Cat” Williams. Unfortunately, those guys’ bodies have seen too much action to come back and be successful at the ages of 45 and 52.

I also almost went with Olin Kreutz who has the same type of consciousness as Kyle Long, but I chose a guy who is slightly younger and played four seasons after Kreutz retired. Roberto Garza is one of the more underrated offensive linemen the Chicago Bears have had on the roster. He played right guard until Kreutz retired and then switched over to center.

The offensive line featuring Cody Whitehair, Roberto Garza and a healthy Kyle Long should get the running game going. Not all offensive lines need to be built from the outside in. Garza was not as vocal as Kreutz, but he was still a leader. Long and Garza played next to each other for a few seasons and Long speaks very highly of Garza. It is crazy he never saw a Pro Bowl but did get the recognition he deserves by being on the cover of the Spanish version of Madden in 2009.
