Of all of the Chicago Bears wide receivers in franchise history, how close is Allen Robinson to the best?

Allen Robinson has only played two years with the Chicago Bears, so hopefully, I am not getting too far ahead of myself. However, it is fair to say that the Chicago Bears are not a wide receiver factory either. So, after two seasons in Chicago, it is worth looking up where Robinson stands amongst the All-Time wide receivers.

Below is the list of the 24 Bears wide receivers in catches. This counts only games played with a Chicago Bears helmet. Robinson checks in at 22nd in receptions, with 153 and 24th in yards with 1.901 in two seasons.

Johnny Morris leads the way with 356 receptions for 5,059 yards. So Robinson is 203 receptions for 3,158 yards to top Morris. Looking at Robinsons season averages with the Bears, it would take 2.7 years to catch him in receptions and 3.3 years to catch him yards. Needless to say, if Robinson signs an extension with the Chicago Bears there is a very real chance he will go down as the best Bears wide receiver of All-Time.

According to Mike Clay of ESPN, Robinson is projected to see 85 receptions for 1,035 yards in 2020. That is a bit more than his two-year average, so if we go with that projection he will jump to eighth all-time in receptions and 14th all-time in receiving yards in Chicago Bears history in one year. Next year we could look back at Robinson jumping the ranks of top all-time Bears wide receivers with a huge leap.

With so much changing over the history of the game, it is hard to compare the old-timers of the past to some of the greats of Bears history. Looking at the six most recent players on the list, we broke it down per-game to see how Robinson stacked up.

Overall, only Brandon Marshall averaged more receptions per game than Robinson, and only Alshon Jeffrey and Marshall averaged more yards. Still, through two years, Robinson is right in the conversation with these two as the elite Bears in recent history. All of these players are higher than Robinson on the all-time list but have all played in Chicago longer. With three more years in Chicago at these rates, he will climb the all-time ranks, and we could see him go down as the best receiver in Bears history.
