3. Cordarrelle Patterson’s experience

Patterson has a wide range of experience in the NFL. One thing has been constant as teams try to scheme him into open space as much as they can. He’s been used as a wide receiver, running back, and even tight end. While he was on the Patriots specifically, he was used as everything.

Patterson carried the ball 42 times during his time in New England. That may not seem like a lot, but he wasn’t the main guy there as they had the likes of Sony Michel, James White, and Rex Burkhead take the bulk of the carries. They also had Kenjon Barner and Jeremy Hill take carries at running back.

In two of the games that year, Patterson even carried the ball 10 or more times. With the 42 carries he had, he turned that into 228 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and a touchdown. He would be nothing more than a relief running back in case Montgomery would go down.

Patterson wants nothing more than to get on the field and get the ball. This position would enable him to potentially be a running back that gets multiple carries a game while allowing the Bears to carry more wide receivers on their roster.
