Chicago Bears: 5 veteran free agents the team could still target
Demar Dotson – RT
At first I was going to recommend Kelvin Beachum. The thing is, I decided I still like Charles Leno at left tackle over Bobby Massie at right tackle. Beachum is not much of an upgrade over Leno prior to the 2019 season. I would hope that Leno can return to his 2018 form and I trust that possibility more than Massie at this point. That said, I would not hate a Beachum addition either.
Insert Demar Dotson though at right tackle. Dotson is very underrated as a right tackle. As bad as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers line has been viewed over the years, Dotson has been fairly consistent on the right side.
Dotson finished the 2019 season with a 71.0 PFF grade. Since 2013, Dotson has seen a grade higher than 70 in all but one season. He would be an instant upgrade over Massie who in that same span has only had two seasons with a grade higher than 70.
Dotson stands 6’9 and weighs in at 315lbs. Seeing his is 34 years old and still on the open market, he should come in fairly cheap. He does not have the name recognition either that a guy like Jason Peters or even Larry Warford has since he’s yet to make a Pro Bowl in his 10-year career. That doesn’t mean he should have though.
