What about a team that is in the playoff hunt but is struggling in the kick return game? What if a team needs some wide receiver and running back depth to ensure a playoff run? Well, if the Chicago Bears are out of contention already, Ryan Pace could easily shop one of the best returners in the game right now in Cordarelle Patterson.

Patterson is in the final year of his two-year contract with the Bears. He has been vocal about wanting to help the team on offense. If Matt Nagy keeps running him on horribly designed third and short plays, Patterson himself might demand a trade.

Honestly, I am not sure Patterson would return anything more than a sixth or seventh-round pick. He would likely be a throw-in if the Bears were to do some player swap and pick swap deal. Remember the scene in the movie “Draft Day”. Kevin Costner’s character asks his coach what else the team needs while making a trade back to Seattle. The answer was special teams. This is how Patterson could be involved in some trade-deadline deal.
