Chicago Bears: 7 starters who will benefit most from playing in the preseason
Kevin Toliver II or Jaylon Johnson
When it comes to the Bears’ defense, the only question mark about the unit is the cornerback spot opposite Pro Bowler Kyle Fuller. Chicago released Prince Amukamara during the offseason to create salary cap space, and are now looking for someone to fill that void. The Bears have a couple of candidates for the job, and the battle between these two players may be one of the biggest battles in training camp.
Three-year veteran Kevin Toliver II has already gotten his feet wet with some playing time in his young career. The six-foot-two, 199-pounder definitely has the size to make an impact at the position. Then there is rookie Jaylon Johnson, who’s said to be one of the steals from this year’s draft.
Assuming that the front seven can dominate like they are expected to, either Toliver or Johnson can thrive in the team’s secondary. Just like Quinn, both of these cornerbacks will need those defensive snaps during the preseason in order to hit the ground running once Week 1 of the regular season rolls around.
