Chicago Bears: 3 veterans that could be signed before the season starts
Nigel Bradham – Could be the missing depth piece the Chicago Bears need
The Bears boast a top tier inside linebacker pair with Danny Trevathan and Roquan Smith. Yet, the team lacks depth behind them after losing guys like Nick Kwiatkoski and Kevin Pierre-Louis in free agency. Josh Woods and Joel Iyiegbuniwe are raw prospects who are unproven to be quality depth players. Also, with Trevathan and Smith’s injury history, a capable backup is a must-have.
Nigel Bradham has never been an elite linebacker, but he has always been a solid player. He was on the Eagle’s Super Bowl winning team and is a great leader in the locker room. If one of the Bears linebackers were to go down with an injury, he could step in and provide solid play at that position. He could also be a mentor along with Trevathan to the young linebackers on this team.
Bradham is available and will most likely accept a cheap deal to play for a team. Bringing him into a possible playoff situation would entice him to take a veteran discount. He would bring winning experience and solid skills to add to an elite linebacker core. The Bears have a huge need for depth at inside linebacker, and Bradham would be the perfect guy to fill that void.
