Artavis Pierce – Chicago Bears undrafted free agent

The second running back competing for this job is Nall’s former teammate Artavis Pierce. Pierce was never a regular guy to carry a workload for Oregon State, but Pierce made his mark. He played in 44 games (13 starts) running for 2,127 yards. He also showed his mark as a receiver with 578 receiving yards.

Pierce set the school record for career yards per carry with 5.8. Pierce is the opposite of what Nall brings to the table as Nall brings more of a slow, bruising back, Pierce brings explosion with his 4.47 speed. In addition to speed, Pierce isn’t a small, speedy back like Cohen. Pierce has good size (5′ 10″, 209 lbs) and strength (16 bench reps), but nothing to go crazy about.

Pierce looks to be the perfect guy who would be the third running back. If either Montgomery or Cohen go down, Pierce could either fill the role as a workhorse back, and he could fill the role as the change-of-pace receiving back. He’s my favorite to win the job come August.
