New Chicago Bears EDGE Robert Quinn will have more sacks than Khalil Mack
I am going to piggyback off the last bold prediction and break things down a little more for everyone. Not only are the Chicago Bears going to lead the league in sacks next year, but Robert Quinn will also come away with more sacks than Khalil Mack.
Mack is a beast and one of the best pass rushers in the game today. He has only seen less than double-digit sacks twice in his career. The first time was his rookie season and the second was last year when teams were literally triple-teaming him during certain points in games. The most sacks he has produced in a season is 15, but he averages just over 10 sacks per season for his career. If we take out his rookie season of only four sacks, he averages 11.5 sacks per year
Robert Quinn is not as big of a household name as Mack, but he has produced some serious pass-rushing results himself. He might be 30 years old, but he is clearly an edge-rush upgrade over Leonard Floyd. For his career, Quinn has averaged nearly nine sacks per year. He has hit the double-digit mark in four of his nine seasons. Last year, he was rejuvenated with 11.5 sacks after failing to meet that mark the four seasons prior.
Health has always been Quinn’s biggest issue. In nine seasons, he has only played 16 games in four of his nine seasons. In those four years, Quinn has averaged more than 11.5 sacks per season with a season-high of 19 sacks. Granted this season was in 2013, but he has not had a supporting cast like he now has in Chicago for a very long time if even ever.
My bold prediction is that both Mack and Quinn will reach double-digit sacks, but Quinn will find a way to outproduce Mack in the stat category.
