Chicago Bears: 4 players who should be cut before taking a snap
Ryan Nall, RB- Chicago Bears
I know I am about to upset many people with this one. Unfortunately, tough decisions need to be made and Ryan Nall is no longer needed here in Chicago. Instead, Ryan Pace needs to go out and sign a more capable and established running back to play behind David Montgomery.
For those ready to tell me that Nall averaged 4.0 yards per carry last season, my response is he had two carries. Yes, two carries. I am not ready to trust him with the load if something should happen to Montgomery or Tarik Cohen. With a roster set up to try and win now, the team cannot afford to count on a UDFA out of Oregon State.
Yes, this means that I have no faith in Artavis Pierce either. As the theme continues on how valuable reps are this offseason, using them on Nall is not worth it. In fact, by cutting him early the team could bring him back on the practice squad. Should he see reps in the preseason and have some solid production versus other team’s backups, another team could sweep in and grab him. Nall and Pierce can battle it out for the practice squad spot.
My hope is that Pace finds a more capable backup in what is a somewhat deep free agency class at this point in the offseason.
