Chicago Bears: 4 players who should be cut before taking a snap
Abdullah Anderson, DE/DT – Chicago Bears
This is a similar situation to Ryan Nall. Abdullah Anderson was a UDFA last season. He played in six games and came away with a sack. Not bad based on his limited snap count. He seems to have some upside, but just like last year, I do not see him making the initial game-day roster. Instead, I see him as a practice squad guy at best.
The Chicago Bears will need to find depth at a position that is constantly banged up. When the defensive line lost Akiem Hicks last season, the results were not great. An injury to Bilal Nicholls did not help either. This is why Anderson saw any playing time at all last year. With veteran Brent Urban on the roster, I do not see Anderson bumping him for playing time.
What I would prefer to see happen is something similar to the running back position. There are a few solid defensive ends the team could look to sign on the cheap before the season hopefully kicks off in September. These are the guys who have a proven track record of getting to the quarterback too. However, as I stated over and over again, limited snaps are very important this offseason. A veteran will still need snaps to get acclimated to a new system and terminology.
Who else do you think should be cut without seeing a snap? Let us know in the comments. We are looking forward to the Mitchell Trubisky and Charles Leno bashing.
