Where does the offseason stock stand on Chicago Bears center, Cody Whitehair?

One word that can easily be used to describe Cody Whitehair is consistent. Ok, maybe not when you are talking about snaps. Still, after a disastrous 2018 snapping the football, Whitehair got better in 2019.

He also showed to be consistent in 2019. The biggest talking point around the Bears moving Daniels and Whitehair back and forth from center to guard was Daniels. Daniels struggled at center and had to move back to guard.

What is not talked about is that Whitehair started at guard, and excelled. Then, he was asked to move to center to help the team and did that as well. As mentioned, he was better changing positions halfway through the season than he was at the same position a year prior.

The team needed him and he made the transition from center to guard and back to center with ease. And remember, this was a lineman who played tackle in college and was expected to play guard in the NFL. It just so happened that he stumbled into being the team’s long-term option at center.

It is hard to find any fan disappointed with the play of Whitehair at this juncture of his career. The snaps were an issue, and if you asked every Bears coach and front office member, they likely all would prefer him at guard. Still, they all would also say that they trust him as much as any center in the NFL and are disappointed to know that he can be a quality starting center in the NFL.

His stock continues to go up.
